Help with Joining to become a paid member which will entitle you to representation
1) Go to the Unite the Union webpage Trade Union, Unions UK, Workers Union - Unite the union
2) In the upper right hand corner of the webpage you will see a "Join Now" button
3) Fill in the online form to join the union. You will need: your personal and employment details, an e-mail account, and bank details to set up a direct debit.
4) Go through all of the steps until you get to the membership options and choose either "Full time - Enhanced" or "Full Time - Basic".
5) On the next screen you will be asked about political donations. This is completely voluntary, and is up to you if you want to give money towards politics. As mentioned, AMPS is an apolitical entity. Tucked away at the bottom of a screen is a link that lets you continue without giving a political donation. Feel free to choose what best suits you.
6) Once you finish the application process, you will be given a Unite Membership Number. This might take a few days.
7) Once you have the Unite Membership Number, you can go to the AMPS website at: AMPS - Looking after the interests of scientific and pharma professionals (amps-tradeunion.com)
8) At the top right of the screen is our Join button. Click it and fill out your information
9) As the final step in the process you will see a screen where it will ask for your Unite Membership number. Fill this in here. This ensures that you will union dues will be what AMPS sets, and that the dues will be sent to our branch for funding.
10) Once that is all complete we will get an e-mail saying that you have joined our branch and you will be a union member and entitled to representation.
